Who I Am
A few words about my journey
I am passionate about Ophthalmology and committed to career even before graduating from medical school.
Having gained five years of great clinical & surgical experience in Ophthalmology in Greece and after completed my training at Attikon University Hospital I received my CCT by the University of Athens in 2012
Along with my professional development as a doctor I have completed my postgraduate studies and awarded a Master's Degree in Healthcare Management.
My dream-goal to become a Vitreoretinal surgeon brought me and my family in the UK.
I was honoured to be a member of one of the world's leading eye hospitals Moorfields Eye Hospital City Road as a Medical Retina Clinical Research Fellow and of the Institute of Ophthalmology of UCL as Senior Research Associate in Visual Neuroscience Lab.
I had my first VR fellowship at Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust which has the largest specialised eye unit in the South-East of England, serving a total population of 1 million and is the major training unit for postgraduate speciality trainees in the Kent Surrey and Sussex region and provides teaching to undergraduate medical students of Kings College Hospital and Guys and St Thomas Hospital Medical Schools.
I had the privilege to work as senior Vitreoretinal Fellow in London's best-known teaching hospital, St Thomas' Hospital under the guidance of world-leading VitreoRetinal consultants such as Mr.Laidlaw and Prof.Williamson, expanding my horizons as a VR surgeon in the surgical, clinical and research field.
On June 2018 I was appointed as Vitreoretinal Consultant substantive post in University Hospital of Southampton NHS Trust where I am serving with commitment my duties as a surgeon but also as a certified clinical and educational supervisor of Wessex Deanery and Royal College of Ophthalmology for VR fellows, Trainees in Ophthalmology and CESR trainees. I am also an an active member of University of Southampton as supervisor of Research Projects for Medical Students and a regular lecturer for their Ophthalmology teaching.
